About Basecamp

A campground built by
a family that camps.

Basecamp opened in 1998 as a 12-site campground on a small Ontario lake. Twenty-eight years later we are still here, still family-run, and still building it for the families that come back every July.

No themed weekends. No water park. Just a clean campground, well-kept trails, swim raft anchored offshore, fire rings that drain after rain, hot showers that stay hot, and a staff who learns your kids' names.

Quiet hours at 11. No generators after 10. Dogs welcome on leash. We do not allow rentals to people under 25 without an adult on-site. This is on purpose — it keeps the place worth coming back to.

§04 / The hosts

The hosts

Three people
who run the place.

You will meet at least one of us at the gate, and at least two of us if you stay more than two nights. Anything you need — ice run, jumper cables, weather call — find one of us.

§08 / FAQ

Common questions

Asked &
answered.

How far ahead should I book?

Long weekends (Victoria Day, Canada Day, August civic, Labour Day) book 4–6 months out. Mid-summer weekends 8–10 weeks. Weekdays often available same-week.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes — on leash, anywhere on the property except the swim beach and the playground. Two-dog max per site, please pick up after them.

What's the cancellation policy?

Full refund up to 14 days before arrival. 50% refund 7–14 days. No refund within 7 days, but we will move your booking to a future date if there is space.

Do you have wifi?

Yes, at the main office and camp store. We do not run wifi to the sites on purpose — campers asked for fewer screens, not more.
